Day 14 Time to say goodbye to Morocco

Image
6am Alarm, no call to prayer  All our bags are packed even the djellaba fitted in. The taxi to the airport is booked for 7.30am 300MAD so just time for a quick breakfast  Taxi on time, approx 45 min journey to airport. We leave as the sun is rising, the temperature is 10c the same as forecasted when we arrive back in the UK.  Check in on Ryan air app is easy and usually not a problem leaving until the last minute until on this occasion in the taxi it asks us to print our boarding tickets.  Fortunately not to much stress as we arrived at the airport with plenty of time. The information were extremely helpful and told us that the downloaded printable boarding cards on my phone should be OK and that if Ryan air asked us to pay at bag checkin to come back and they would print them for free. No needed to have worried, by 9am We are in the small departure lounge drinking Moroccan coffee at European price of 3euros each with our hand written boarding cards. A step back on t...

Day13 One last day in Morroco

As the sun is not warming up very early, we set off into the town  The port area is new, with quite a few boats, showing signs of a lot of future development. The town beach just a bit further up is deserted, summer has definitely disappeared  Into the medina we go. Asilah is definitely an arty town We walk through the wonderfully clean Medina towards the Fort. Pestered only by the same guy with tea paintings on ripped cement bags and his stories of sorrow. The views over towards the Medina Gof resort are so different from the after.oon we arrived in the rain And the view back over the Medina Having brought a Winky Jacket Boots needed a beer but settled for coffee in one of the many bars that lined the East outside wall of the medina  Donkeys and Horses are very much used as a form of transport ...

Day 12. Asilah chill out day

No alarm, no rush, forecast sunny day but temp hardly reaching low 20's and quite breezy. No sun on pool area or balcony so set of North of the hotel towards Asilah beach We walked and walked up past the station, up the road out of down that had all the infrastructure of becoming an upmarket resort. We had the opinion of booking a hotel for our stay in this area, so glad we didn't as there was very few tourist of any nationality and what had looked a lively beach bar wad now closed  We headed back into town along the empty beach Taking a break on the steps leading up to another block of holiday apartments that were also closed and looking somewhat deserted. Eventually we got back to a beach cafe just down from our hotel. The cafe was very much a ricco (paphos Cyprus) style venture. I am sure we walked over heaps of camel dung to get to it. There was somewhat mystery surrounding this as a small c...
